Banepa, Dec 20 (RSS): Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged the university graduates to utilize the knowledge they gained for country's development as the government has set the national ambition of 'prosperous Nepal: happy Nepali'.
Sending the message of best wishes to the 25th Convocation Day of the Kathmandu University on Friday, PM Oli viewed that willpower and contribution of the graduates determine country's future. "Nepal is a country full of potentials. It has made stride in development over short time. The students can also serve the country by working in the area they have studied," he said, adding that government was ready to assist them to this end.
He further reminded the Kathmandu University carries a significance as it is the first university set up after the conception of multiple universities in Nepal. "It has been established as a model educational institute of the country," he lauded.
On the occasion, Pro-Chancellor of the University and Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, viewed that some of the challenges before higher education of the country are quality teaching learning, research, guarantee to employment, equity and access of general public. Kathmandu University has however been successful to face these challenges with effective management. It has been able to internationalize Nepal's higher education, he extoled.
The Minister urged the graduates to move ahead as per time and demand by protecting history.
A total of 1,546 students were graduated to attend the 25th Convocation Day. Of them, 16 were PhD holders, 55 M Phil while others did masters and bachelors.
Of them, 211 were from humanities, 168 from education, 371 from engineering, 41 from arts, 483 from management, and 260 from science faculties.
Similarly, 13 foreign students were also graduated and they were from India, Argentina, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Maldives, Sweden, Ukraine, United Kingdom and USA.
On the occasion, students were feted Chancellor Medal, Vice Chancellor medal, Rana Bahadur Shah gold medal and Juddha Bahadur Shrestha gold medal. rss
